It doesn’t look like a hybrid, but Hyundai’s Ioniq SE delivers hybrid efficiency better than any other vehicle in its class. And it does so in style. The Ioniq features a modern air-flow design with signature Eco-spoke wheels, a mesh grille, and attractive LED lighting. In addition, Hyundai backs up its lithium polymer battery system with the best battery warranty in the industry, a 10-year, 100,000-mile guarantee.

Slipping inside the Ioniq cabin, you immediately notice the quality interior and expansive space. Plus, it has the latest in-vehicle tech to keep you connected and safe. If you’re interested in upgrading your Trenton commute with an efficient, stylish hatchback, the Ioniq SE has what you’re looking for in a hybrid powertrain. However, we know you spend most of your time inside your vehicle. With that in mind, we thought we’d explore the Ioniq SE hatchback’s interior to help you better understand the comfort and convenience you can expect.

Ioniq seats up to five people in spacious comfort. Front passengers have 39.1 inches of headroom and 42.2 inches of legroom, while the rear passengers enjoy 37.4 inches of headroom and 35.7 inches of legroom. In total, you have over 96 cubic feet of passenger volume plus 26.5 cubic feet of cargo area behind the second row.

Your Ioniq SE comes with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support. The front passenger seat operates manually, adjusting six ways, including a height setting. Hyundai uses premium cloth upholstery in various colors, and the front seats heat for comfort. The rear seat split-folds in a 60/40 pattern for multiple cargo configurations. You also get a front center armrest with storage and a rear center armrest with cup holders. With the dual automatic temperature control system featuring an auto defogging function, everyone stays in their comfort zone.

You get a leather shift knob, and your leather-wrapped steering wheel comes with paddle shifters for a spirited driving experience. Your steering wheel also has all your audio, Bluetooth, and cruise controls. A 7-inch LCD information cluster displays all your critical driving data. Power windows operate with one-touch auto up/down for the driver.

Your in-vehicle technology runs through the 8-inch touchscreen with high resolution and an AM/FM/HD radio. In addition, Hyundai includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, plus your Bluetooth streaming features voice recognition software. Now, you can sync your cellphones without using cords for hands-free operations. In addition, Hyundai includes a USB charging port in the front console, plus USB input jacks in the front and rear.

All this technology enables you to access your favorite apps, get navigation information, and more with the help of simple, intuitive voice commands. In addition, Hyundai provides you with complimentary SiriusXM activation and a three-month trial subscription so you can enjoy the most expansive satellite radio broadcasts.

Accessories

You can add carpeted floor mats, a cargo tray, and a cargo net to organize your storage space. The available cargo cover screen keeps all your belongings out of sight. Other available accessories include a first aid kit and wheel locks.

Powertrain

Hyundai’s Ioniq Hybrid SE combines the power of internal combustion with electricity for the perfect blend of efficiency and performance. You have a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with gasoline direct injection and dual continuously variable valve timing technology. Hyundai uses a 32-kW permanent magnet synchronous electric motor powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery pack that produces 43 horsepower. You get 139 horsepower when you combine both systems.

A six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission with SHIFTRONIC technology delivers smooth shifting and power-on-demand. To match your driving conditions, you also get selectable drive modes to tune your shift points, throttle, and steering. This powertrain delivers exceptional fuel economy ratings with an EPA-estimated 54 mpg on surface roads, 57 mpg on the highway, and 55 mpg combined.

Driver-Assist Technologies

Your Ioniq Hybrid SE comes with a suite of driver-assist systems designed to elevate your New Jersey commute and help keep you safe. These systems use radar and optical sensors to monitor your Ioniq Hybrid SE and alert you to possible hazards. In addition, the suite includes a forward collision-avoidance assist with a pedestrian detection system that scans the road ahead. The system alerts you when it detects an object in your path, even recognizing pedestrians. Should you fail to react, the system will provide emergency brake support to help mitigate or avoid a potential collision.

You also get Hyundai’s lane-keeping assist system. This system uses optical sensors mounted on the windshield of your Ioniq Hybrid SE to track your vehicle when traveling within marked lanes. When it detects an unintentional drift, the system alerts you. In some instances, the system can provide gentle steering correction to help return you to your lane.

In addition, Hyundai gives you the blind-spot collision warning with a rear cross-traffic alert system. This system uses similar technology to scan your vehicle’s blind spots, alerting you when vehicles enter them. If you try to change lanes with a vehicle in your blind spot or back into oncoming traffic, this system will alert you and deliver emergency braking and steering to help avoid a collision.

Also included in the suite, you get Hyundai’s driver attention warning system. This system detects distracted and drowsy behavior and alerts you to regain focus. A high beam assist system automatically toggles your high beams to low when it detects oncoming traffic or when you approach another vehicle in your lane ahead. The rear-view camera system allows you to back up with confidence. This system projects a view from behind your Ioniq Hybrid SE while in reverse and includes dynamic gridlines indicating distance.
