The 31st annual Crawfish Fest will take place June 3-5 at the New Jersey State Fairgrounds. You can enjoy some of the best music and food at the Crawfish Fest, featuring boiled crawfish, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, alligator sausage, Po-boys, chargrilled oysters, and more. Learn Cajun/Zydeco dancing for free at the Crawfish Fest. Tickets will be available soon at the Crawfish Fest Online Store for single-day, two-day, group, on-site four-day/three-nights camping, and King Crawfish Krewe main stage pit passes. Come on out for Delta blues, R&B, gospel, jazz, brass, and more on three stages.

Festival of Ballooning

The New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning is scheduled for July 29-31, 2022. You can purchase festival VIP tickets soon on their website, including admission to the VIP Blue Sky Club tent and prime viewing of the hot air balloons. You also get tables and seating available, so you don’t have to bring your own, plus private food service available at an additional cost and lawn seating for the concerts. General admission tickets will also be available for purchase soon.

The Festival of Ballooning takes place at the Solberg Airport at 39 Thor-Solberg Road in Whitehouse Station. The festival includes daily activities such as headliner concerts, sunrise and sunset yoga, mat pilates, creative performers, and a Running with the Balloons 5K. Most information has yet to be announced but keep checking in or sign up to receive notifications via the Festival of Ballooning newsletter.

New Jersey State Fair

The New Jersey State Fair celebrates 81 years this year from Aug. 5-13, 2022, at 37 Plains Road in Augusta. Come on out to enjoy the RoNetco Family Entertainment Area for hot dog pig races, Nate the Great juggling show, and Mystik Magic Illusion Show. The Franklin Sussex Outdoor Entertainment Area will feature a lumberjack competition, demolition derby, monster truck show, sports-bike stunt show, and tractor pull. Carnival games and rides are provided by Reithoffer Shows, Inc. and guaranteed to provide children of all ages with a fantastic time.

You can find the Queen of the Fair pageant and other entertainment at the Planet Networks Performing Arts Tent. The fair offers plenty of exhibits, farm animals of all shapes and sizes, botanicals, and 4-H projects for those interested. The Sussex County Horse Show also includes freestyle showmanship, non-pro versatility, barrel racing, hunter/jumper, and English/Western shows. Come hungry because the fairgrounds will be packed with food vendors offering up all types of fair foods, from corn dogs and cotton candy to ice cream and pie.

Seafood Festival

The Bellview Winery at 150 Atlantic St. in Landisville will host the annual Seafood Festival on Aug. 7 and 8, 2022. Admission is $20 each day, with hours from noon to 5 p.m., and will feature food vendors for seafood delicacies, wine tastings, craft vendors, sangria, and live music. Approximately 2,000 people are expected to attend the festival in 2022 at Bellview Winery, so when tickets go on sale, you’ll want to grab them up fast. Previous vendors include the Star of the Sea Seafood, Sharkbait, Jonathan’s Harbor, and Ike’s Crab Cakes.

A highlight of the 2021 Seafood Festival that we hope to see back again for 2022 is the mobile axe-throwing truck. For $10 a person, you can throw 10 axes and a five-throw competitive game. The Seafood Festival allows children and outside coolers of food but does not allow pets or outside alcohol. The festival takes place rain or shine, so you’re guaranteed a fun day even if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Mountain Creek Oktoberfest

The Mountain Creek Oktoberfest celebrated its 37th anniversary in 2021, so we can only imagine they’ll be back for another one in 2022. This annual event takes place in September at Mountain Creek Resort located in Vernon. In the past, this has been a Saturday and Sunday event featuring live entertainment and music plus activities such as the wife-carry contest, lumberjack contest, stein/keg hold, pie-eating contest, bratwurst toss, and hay-bale toss. Kids’ activities include lawn games, a petting zoo, balloon animals, face painting, an activity ring, and inflatables/bouncy house.

The food and drink have always been phenomenal at the Mountain Creek Oktoberfest. You can expect to find a pretzel station, dessert station, corn and pickle station, as well as the main food tent. Enjoy deep-fried cheesecake, a jumbo spicy Kosher dill pickle, roasted half-chicken, barbecue pulled pork sandwich, Scheinhoxe, or jumbo hot dog. Alcohol for those 21 and older should include German beers, seasonal ciders, wine, and liquor at the Biergarten. There will also be vendors and crafts for you to enjoy at Mountain Creek.

Fall-O-Ween

In October 2022, you can plan to enjoy a family-friendly, free event in Fort Lee. The Business District Alliance of Fort Lee presents the annual Fall-O-Ween Spectacular on the last Saturday in October. Children of all ages are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes to trick-or-treat down Main Street from various businesses. This event has also traditionally offered face painting, balloon animals, and a DJ for live music. It’s never too early to start thinking about what you’d like to be for Halloween next year.

The team at Hyundai of Trenton hopes this list of annual festivals and events helps to fill your calendar, so you don’t miss out on these happenings.
