Pennsylvania Bridge

Pennsylvania Bridge is a two-lane bridge that extends over the Delaware River, connecting New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Bridge is also sometimes called the “Trenton Makes Bridge” because of the words written on the side that read “Trenton Makes the World Takes.” This sign has made the bridge a landmark in Trenton.

Pennsylvania Bridge is a truss bridge, meaning its composition includes a series of interconnected triangles, known as trusses, as the primary structural support for the bridge. These bridges usually require various materials, including wood, iron, and steel. The bridge is beautiful to drive across during the day, but take the time to view it at night from below when the Trenton Makes sign shines with neon lights.

Trenton Thunder Ballpark

Trenton Thunder Ballpark at 1 Thunder Road in Trenton is the baseball stadium that houses the Trenton Thunder Minor League Baseball team. The stadium, also known as Arm and Hammer Park and formally known as Mercer County Waterfront Park, can fit more than 6,000 people. You can enjoy a baseball game with loved ones in the summer, and Arm and Hammer Park offers a delightful atmosphere and view. You can see the Delaware River and the neighboring state of Pennsylvania from the stadium.

If you love baseball, you can pay attention to the players on reserve for Major League Baseball teams. You can also enjoy a nice relaxing day at the game, complete with sunshine and all the classic baseball concessions you know and love. During the summer, the stadium hosts baseball camps so kids can learn how to play the game. That could be an excellent way to entertain your kids outdoors while school is out. 

Trenton Farmers Market

The Trenton Farmers Market is at 960 Spruce Street in Lawrence Township. The market began in the early 1900s when it was a meeting and trading place for a few simple farm stands. Now, it is a total market that has a booth for everything. This week, you can skip the grocery store because this farmer’s market has more than 40 different vendors from local farms and businesses. You can find meat and poultry and more unique items like handcrafted soap. 

Walking around a farmer’s market can be a great way to balance your diet and ensure you are eating enough vegetables. It’s also a great excuse to walk around in the sun. If you get tired of the Farmers Market, there are also great cafes where you can get a snack or coffee nearby.

Washington Crossing State Park

Washington Crossing State Park surrounds a legendary moment in American History. On December 25, 1776, General George Washington and his army crossed the Delaware River and landed on the site now known as Washington Crossing State Park the next day. This park now includes various artifacts and artworks to celebrate that fact. The Washington Crossing Visitor Center Museum currently showcases more than 700 Revolutionary War artifacts from the Swan Historical Foundation’s collection. 

In addition to its historical relevance, Washington Crossing State Park is known for its wildlife and various trails. The park has additional facilities like an observatory, a nature interpretive center, and an open-air theater. The park also hosts an annual reenactment of Washington crossing Delaware. If you want to visit the park, you can find it at 355 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in Titusville, and it is open daily between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Cadwalader Park

You can find Cadwalader Park at 36 Parkside Avenue in Trenton. It’s the oldest park in Trenton and another outdoor venue where you and your family can spend the day.

Cadwalader Park is perfect for hiking and biking, as the entire park is almost 100 acres wide, with trails that allow you to enjoy nature. A path runs along the Delaware and Raritan Canal, allowing visitors to see the peaceful water. It’s also common to see deer living in the park, so there is the opportunity for some wildlife spotting. The park has picnic tables, a central pavilion with grills, and tables for hosting larger parties. The park also contains several historical sites, like the Civil War Memorial and the Ellarslie Museum.

Trenton Battle Monument

The Trenton Battle Monument (also called “Five Points”) is a column-style monument found at 348 N. Warren & Broad Streets in Trenton’s North Ward. At the top of the column is General Washington. The city of Trenton built this monument in 1891 to celebrate the American victory in the First Battle of Trenton in 1776 and honor the Americans that fought in it. The battle was a significant strategic success in the Revolutionary War and bolstered soldiers’ morale.

Depending on your mood, you can look at the monument as you stroll by or take a seat and enjoy the view. Surrounding the memorial is a pleasant park with plenty of benches where you can sit and take some extra time to view the monument. You can also host picnics and events in the open public space.
